Jonathan Perman, Managing Director
An accomplished corporate and government/public affairs executive and civic leader with a proven record of providing expertise and guidance to businesses, governmental bodies, and professional and trade organizations. He has special experience working with regulated industries including energy, utilities, transportation, telecommunications, and healthcare/senior living. Jonathan also brings substantial practice in niche marketing, economic development, land use and zoning, regulatory affairs, workforce development, and fiscal policy.
With Springfield, IL, Hartford, CT, and Capitol Hill experience, Jonathan is able to leverage an extensive network of knowledge and business/political relationships throughout the Chicago area, Midwest and nation.
In 2017, Jonathan founded and is now the co-director of the American Congressional Exchange (ACE) at the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) in Washington, D.C. ACE is a systematic approach to building better relationships and bipartisanship in Congress. Under ACE, Members of Congress who participate agree to visit, for one weekend, a Member of the opposite party in that Member’s district. The visits provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to learn about issues from a different perspective, enabling them to more effectively perform their responsibilities.
Prior to starting his own public affairs consultancy in 2006, Jonathan was the executive director of The Evanston Chamber of Commerce (1992-2010). From 1988-1992, he served as director of governmental affairs for The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. From 1984-85, Jonathan was a professional staff member for the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Energy, Nuclear Proliferation, and Government Processes.
He is a graduate of Macalester College, St. Paul, MN, and holds a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) from the University of Michigan.
